Tokenization

Asset tokenization - is the process by which an issuer creates digital tokens on a distributed ledger or blockchain, which represent either digital or physical assets. Blockchain guarantees that once you buy tokens representing an asset, no single authority can erase or change your ownership — your ownership of that asset remains entirely immutable.

Tokenization can be applied to regulated financial instruments like equities and bonds, tangible assets such as real estate, precious metals, commodities, and any intellectual property. 

"Tokenization is eating the asset class" : This is a a paraphrase : In 2011, Marc Andreessen famously wrote a prescient claim that “software is eating the world.” His prediction was that software companies would disrupt traditional industries and since then, we've seen industries transform and companies fold.

Tokenization will disrupt the core meaning of an asset and transform how it is created, categorized, stored, traded, and used.
